Kennedy School Procedures

Security

  • All outside doors to our school, except for the front entrance near the flagpole will be locked at 8:30 each day. The front entrance will be the only entry to the school during the school day. Parents and visitors should stop in the office to sign in before going to the classrooms.

  • All parents picking up students for appointments or early dismissal must report to the office.

  • All school doors will be unlocked at 2:30 each day.

Late Sign-In

Early Sign-Out

  • Students are expected to be in their classrooms by 8:20 a.m.
  • If a student is late, he/she needs to report to the office to sign in.
  • Dismissal is at 2:50.
  • If a student is to be picked up before that time, he/she should give a note to the teacher in the a.m. Parents should come into the office to sign out the student.

Attendance

If your child is late or absent, he/she needs to bring a note of excuse upon returning to school.

 

Borrowing for Lunch

Students who forget their lunch money will be allowed to borrow from the student activity fund and order a PBJ sandwich, milk, vegetable and fruit. They will be expected to repay promptly.

 

Parking

  • Only authorized vehicles (buses, vehicles transporting handicapped children, staff members, and/or school district vehicles) may use the circle in front of the school.  This will keep the area clear and safe for our many walkers who cross over through this area.
  • Cars may stop on the School Side of Park Street to let students off and/or to pick them up.
  • We suggest that as many as possible use the ONE WAY extension of Jersey Avenue that passes beside the School and empties out onto Lafayette Street.
  • We also have another very safe access to Kennedy School (between Northwest Technical Center and Kennedy Elementary School).  Cars are asked to enter the BOCES driveway form Park Street turning left onto the ONE WAY road through the new Parking Lot behind the soccer Field that empties back out onto Park Street across from Agway Store.
  • Please DO NOT  deliver and/or pick up in the Church Parking Lot because this causes children to have to cross Park Street in heavy traffic, thus creating a safety hazard!!!
  • Please encourage all children to use the sidewalks which are provided for their safety.

Emergency Closing

School closings and delays will be announced over the radio stations and TV stations. In case of an emergency closing during the school day, it is important that the school has an emergency procedure form on file. Your child will be dismissed according to those plans unless the school is notified differently.
